Crayola 64 Box 50th Birthday

Kids in costume unveiled the eight new Kids’ Choice Colors as part of the 50th... birthday celebration for the Crayola 64 Box, Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Toys“R”Us Times Square in New York. The colors and their unique names, ‘best friends’, ‘awesome’, ‘giving tree’, ‘happy ever after’, ‘fun in the sun’, ‘bear hug’, ‘famous’ and ‘super happy’, were chosen by nearly 20,000 kids through an online survey and speak to what s important to today s youth. Special guests included Dr. Crayola, “Tip” the Crayola crayon mascot and celebrity chef Duff Goldman of Food Network s Ace of Cakes , who created a giant replica 64 Box birthday cake!


Since its debut in 1958 on “Captain Kangaroo,” more than 200 million Crayola 64 boxes, holding 12.8 billion crayons, have been sold. All those crayons would circle the earth 24 times. For more crayola fun visit The Crayola Factory in Easton,Pennsalyania.
